A Business City and not a Business Park

ABP BInternational Business City

Location: Shenyang, China
Client: Shenyang ABP

Programme:
Business city, 7.3 mio m2 offices, commercial and residential, FAR 1 to 6

The 367ha Shenyang ABP Business park is too big to be modeled after the typical business park which is characterized by mostly low rise and low density buildings set within a park landscape. Instead, the development holds the potential to be developed as a new type of city quarter – centered on different types of commercial offices, but with the full variety of uses a real city needs.

The grid of 250x250m urban blocks is structure by large landscape corridors that develop the existing water landscape. Four business centers from the urban accents of the plan. The cultural center can become a highlight the shores of Puhe Island Ecological Corridor.

Stages:
2012 Concept

Team:
MLA+: Markus Appenzeller, John Steventon, Magdalena Szczypka, Roland Winkler
