MLA+ designed Villa in Rio’s Barra di Tijuca (BR) is well under way
For a private client, MLA+ has been designing a new home. The villa is located in the western district of Rio de Janeiro, Barra de Tijuca. The design of the villa picks up on the modernist tradition of open floor plans and zones that blur the transition between inside space and outside space, including and building around mature tress on the site. At the same time – due to the relatively small plot, it makes reference to the patio houses common in Brazil since centuries. Together with the use of brick as a facade material a hybrid emerges that combines the qualities and aesthetics of tradition and contemporary architecture.
The construction of the villa has commenced in Fall 2016 and is expected to be completed in Fall of 2017.
