MLA+ wins second prize in Xixiang Village Regeneration Competition, Shenzhen
MLA+ together with Guangdong Urban & Rural Planning and Design Institute has been announced runner up in the competition for the regeneration of Xixiang Coastal Town in Bao’An district of Shenzhen. The goal of the competition was to propose solutions to the regeneration of an existing Shenzhen Village.
The proposal of MLA+ respects the village and its structure while offering new uses and new urban spaces in the pockets of the urban fabric and at the edges of the village. In the competition MLA+ engaged with the local population to find out the real qualities of the place and the most immediate needs of people are. We believe this new approach can offer a way forward in what is to become the biggest task in the coming decades – regenerating the Chinese city.
