MLA+ together with Korteknie Stuhlmacher Architecten selected for Brussels Lebeau- Sablon competition

The organizing party, Immobel, will develop the block between Rue Lebeau, Rue de la Paille and Rue de Ruysbroeck into a 41,500 sqm mix-used project with housing, offices and retail. MLA+ together with Korteknie Stuhlmacher Architecten is selected as one of the 5 teams out of 39 renowned European offices to work on the masterplan and architectural design of this urban block.

The Lebeau – Sablon project is situated on Place du Grand Sablon, one of the most exclusive districts in Brussels. Close to the Royal Library and only a 5 minute walk from the city centre, the surroundings of the site offer a unique mix of heritage and high-density. The project aim is to create a high-quality neighbourhood that fits into the context. Next to new programs and architecture, the historical Paille building on site must be transformed into an office building conserving most of the historical elements of the building.

Bringing together disciplines of masterplanning, architectural design and transformation, this is a challenging and complex project. MLA+ Korteknie Stuhlmacher Architecten are committed to meet this challenge and see forward to work on the project.
