The jury of the open international competition for the development of the architectural and urban planning concept of the construction of the territory of the Riga Cargo Yard has determined the five of finalists. This is announced by the chief architect of Moscow, Sergey Kuznetsov.
Competitive bids will be developed by well-known world companies and consortia:
- Skidmore, Owings and Merril (USA)
- Nikken Sekkei (Japan)
- KCAP (Netherlands), SVESMI (Netherlands / Russia)
- UNK Project (Russia), RUGBC (Russia)
- MLA + (Netherlands), AM Sergey Kisilev and partners (Russia)
“The goal of the project is a comprehensive redevelopment of the territory of the Riga Cargo Yard and the creation in its place of a new urban area, focused on the latest architectural and urban trends in terms of creating a high-quality environment for life, work and leisure. The new multi-functional quarter should combine the office and business center of Russian Railways, a modern residential complex and other integral functions, ”said Sergey Kuznetsov.
The development site is located 5 km from the Kremlin in the area of Maryina Roshcha, NEAD of Moscow, at the intersection of the Third Transport Ring and Prospect Mira. From the west it is limited by 4th street of Maryina Roshcha, from the north by the Riga railway direction. The built-up area is 20.6 ha.
