Getting urban development started
Visioning and Genplan Workshop
Location: Ufa, Russia
Client: Confidential
Program: 1 week workshop to identify key fields of action in the preparation of a City Vision and a new Genplan for the City of Ufa
Ufa is about to develop a new general plan for the city. In current Russian practice there is little relationship between this plan and the socio-economic development of the city. What is missing is a vision for Ufa. The workshop held involved international experts in different fields of urban development. The aim of the workshop was to outline the ingredients for a city vision for Ufa. Together and in discussion with local experts and stakeholders a number of key fields of action were defined. In subsequent steps local political establishment, businesses and residents will formulate the vision and provide input into the development brief for the new general plan. In this fashion an integrated result will be achieved.
The results of the workshop were presented in a number of publications and in an urban and architecture development exhibition at Moscow’s Manezh Exhibition Hall in December 2013.
