Holidays = Living with nature

Dzintari Beach House

Location: Jurmala, Latvia
Client: Vesper Development

Program:
3.750 m² total GFA, 18 apartments, indoor swimming pool, underground parking

Located in walking distance from the Baltic Sea, Dzintari Beach House will largely be used as a holiday and weekend retreat. The design of the building combines a sensitive response to the location within a pine forest with the special ‘holiday lifestyle’.

The building is expressed as a large villa around a shared courtyard. From this protected outdoor zone the individual apartments and staircases are accessed. A shared swimming pool is located underneath the courtyard with a roof that can be opened so that in summer the courtyard becomes the sun deck of the users of the building.

Large balconies and terraces and facades that can be opened to a large extent allow for a lifestyle within and with nature. Big windows ‘frame’ the outdoor environment in the colder season.

Materials used – Porphyr, Pine Wood and Concrete – create a local and natural feel and embed the building into its Baltic seashore context.
