Regenerating a company campus to become an integrated neighbourhood

Campus Süd

Location: Munich, Germany
Client: Patrizia Immobilien AG, PBS Immobilien GmbH, Urban Planning Department of the city of Munich

Program:
11ha residential led masterplan for 3.000 residents including 90.000m2 residential and 10.000 m2 social and commercial uses

The redevelopment plan of a former Siemens factory site at the edge of Munich brings together two urban principles: the campus character of the existing site and its mature trees and the classic urban form of Munich’s city center based on urban axis, representational facades and urban squares. Four rectangular housing blocks cluster around a large central plaza. The building heights are moderate with six floors average and give presence to one landmark tower. A sequence of open spaces connects the Metro station and the existing commercial center with the new neighbourhood. This simple, yet strong spatial framework gives the site an attractive character while providing flexibility during detailed implementation.

Stages:
2014 International urban and landscape design  competition
