The first neighbourhood in the Olympic Park
Location: London, United Kingdom
Client: London Development Agency, Olympic Park Legacy Company
Programme: 60 ha family neighbourhood, 850 dwellings, 112.500m² housing, 2.250m² commercial, health and leisure functions
‘Chobham Manor’ is the first neighbourhood to emerge as a result of the Olympic Legacy Masterplan. The areas between the Velodrome and the former Athletes’ Village will house 850 new dwellings. The plan is formed by a number of urban blocks, each aligned with the Athletes’ Village and defining a network of traditionally proportioned streets and squares.
Each block is intersected by a mews street generating a number of different scales to which the different building types respond. An informal green route runs East – West through the plan connecting the new neighbourhood into the park.
Our commission by the landowner and development agency included the drafting of Urban Design Guidelines. The guidelines became the a legally binding design basis in the follow up stage, where investors where sought as development partners.
