Accommodating Growth in Town Centers

Location: London, United Kingdom
Client: Greater London Authorities

Programme:
Policy and design guidance for the challenge of managing growth in London

This Policy and Design Guidance for the Mayor’s shows how to achieve successful housing intensification and high street diversification in London. The city is under great pressure to accomodate growth within the existing urban fabric. The political, and the public desire, is to achive this intensification while at the same time improving the urban quality of the city.

Residential as the most viable use is the driving force. How can this be integrated with other uses that make attractive city centers? Our report gives policy and urban design guidance and hands-on advice on the essential factors for qualitative intensification.
