Regenerating a former port holistically

Royal Docks Projects

Location: London, United Kingdom
Client: Development Securities PLC, Barratt Homes East London, London Development Agency, Greater London Authorities et. al.

Programme:
Wider area development study, several masterplans, urban design guidelines and architectural designs

MLA+ has planned large parts of the redevelopment of the Royal Docks in London, an area that suffers from industrial and trading decline since the 1980s.  We have acted as development consultants, masterplanners and architects for clients ranging from public authorities, public-private development corporations, international investors, commercial developers to housing associations.  The projects had to deal with issues like existing buildings and industrial heritage, infrastructure integration, esp. transport infrastructure, and a location that is still not perceived as attractive for urban development.

Stages:
2004 – 2006 Royal Docks Strategy
2006 – 2008 Royals Business Park Masterplan
2007 – 2010 Silvertown Way Regeneration and Industry Relocation Masterplan
2008 Royal Docks Basins Study
2008 Royal Albert Way Mixed Use Complex Concept
2008 – 2010 Royal Docks Hotel Masterplan
2010 – 2016 Two blocks at Barrier Park completed
2014 – 2015 Great Eastern Quays Masterplan and Concept Design
