A sustainable and recognizable neighborhood
The New City Oostende
Location: Oostende, Belgium
Client: De Oostendse Haard
Program: 5.0 Ha, 49.629 GEA m2 apartments
A new urban ensemble of medium-sized building volumes is emerging on the outskirts of Oostende. The new residential area is a sustainable, recognizable neighborhood with its own residential identity. Lively neighborhoods arise where people from different social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds can live together, identify with their immediate surroundings and feel at home there.
“The new city” will transform into a place for pleasant and sustainable collective living. In our vision we make a connective neighborhood, future-proof for several consecutive generations. 465 social apartments will be realized in the new plan. Integration of urban design, architecture and landscape leads to an urban district where human scale, connectivity, health, circularity and future-proofing are key concepts.
