Housing with a mission

Shenzhen housing is changing. While it provided for the factory worker in the past, the future lies in the attraction of highly educated talent. These people can choose the place they want to work and live at. Housing therefore has to offer more. While it should be more affordable, its should also provide a sense of belonging, a local community and a mix of functions that facilitate the busy daily life.
Shenyan Housing offers all that and a lot more. Located in a waterfront location, it combines the idea of the local village with the high density of the big city. A walkable, human scale ground floor zone provides a wide mix of uses – daycare, shops, leisure. Towers offer a mix of apartments of different sizes for singles, couples and families. In between the two the ‘social cloud’ forms a community space where indoor and outdoor facilities, a community garden and gathering points provide a place for the local community to manifest itself.
Shenyan Talent Housing defines anew, what housing with a social mission in Shenzhen can be – a Shenzhen Village 2.0
