A new urban concept for a  special residential neighbourhood

Peterhof Shakmatova Street

Location: St. Petersburg, Russia
Client: Glorax

Programme:
residential neighbourhood with a school, kindergartens, sport facilities

MLA+ was asked to develop a conceptual proposal for a new neighbourhood in Peterhof, at the outskirts of St. Petersburg. In the historical town, height is limited to 12m to avoid visual impact on the historic palaces nearby. We developed an urban plan as well as suggested special typologies, that are unusual for the Russian context but well suiting the local condition. Making reference to Dutch typologies a new form of urban life can emerge here: Maisonettes, boven- en benedenwoningen, portiek flats. stacked duplexes…

Stages:
2017 Concept design

Team:
Yana Golubeva, Fedor Kirsa, Yaroslava Nesterenko, Natalia Pirogova, Chris Steenhuis, Mikhail Stepura
